The jet-suction dredger is a "high-efficiency expert" in dredging engineering. Its working principle cleverly combines the dual power of water jet and suction: a strong water flow is generated by a high-pressure water pump, which is ejected through the nozzle, impacting the mud on the riverbed and the seabed like a high-pressure water gun, breaking up and loosening the originally compact mud layer; at the same time, the mud pump is started to form a strong suction force,like an "underwater vacuum cleaner", sucking up the mud mixed with the dispersed mud and water along the mud suction pipe, and transporting it to the designated area through the mud discharge pipe.

In terms of structure, the high-pressure water spray device and mud pump of the jet-suction dredger are the core components.The nozzle of the high-pressure water spray device can be adjusted according to different soil types and working conditions to ensure that the mud can be effectively dispersed; and the performance of the mud pump determines the suction and transportation capacity of the mud. Some advanced jet-suction dredgers are also equipped with an intelligent control system that can monitor the operating parameters in real time, automatically adjust the water spray pressure and mud pump suction according to the actual situation, and greatly improve the operating efficiency and accuracy.

Compared with other dredgers, suction dredgers are particularly suitable for operations in waters with soft soil such as sand and silt, such as dredging in inland waterways, dredging of small ports, and lake management. It has the advantages of flexible operation and relatively low construction cost, and it has little disturbance to the surrounding environment. It is often used in environmental dredging projects. However, since its work depends on the impact of water flow, the operation effect will be limited in areas with hard soil or more rocks.
